Looking for a used GMC dealer with an extensive inventory of GMC trucks? We have a massive selection of trucks from this trusted manufacturer, and our team is ready to help you select the model that meets your needs.
When it comes to the truck world, GMC is a trusted name. It’s known for its refined interiors, muscular builds, work-ready features, and trailer-ready technology. Whether your days involve towing small equipment or recreational equipment, dusty job sites or camp sites, a GMC truck is ready to elevate your days.
You’ll find a wide array of truck types in the GMC family. We want to ensure that you fully understand your options and get a sense of the benefits of each model. Below, we’ll provide an overview of GMC’s most popular trucks, along with major model years to be aware of during your shopping journey.
The Canyon
If you know you need the utility of a pickup, like a bed for hauling big items, some decent towing figures for recreational vehicles, and the all-terrain flexibility of four-wheel drive, but you don’t want a huge frame, the Canyon is a terrific option.
This midsize truck offers dimensions that make it easy to handle in tight environments, including cramped parking spots and congested city streets. It’s a smart choice for urban dwellers who need the perks of a pickup for their work or recreation, as well as for commuters who have to travel far distances between job sites.
We recommend looking at 2016 or newer Canyons. That’s when GMC added the Duramax turbo-diesel engine option, which greatly increased the utility of the truck. Combining power and efficiency, the diesel engine transformed the Canyon into what almost felt like an undercover full-size pickup. Keep in mind that in 2023, GMC redesigned the Canyon and decided to only have one gas engine offering.
The year 2021 was another exciting one for the Canyon, because it gained the AT4 trim, a rugged off-road variant that amplified the adventure possibilities. A factory lift and off-road tuned suspension makes the AT4 ready for bumpy roads, littered with boulders and fallen branches. Serious underbody coverage along with off-road rocker panel protectors create battle shields for this trail-loving trim.
A heavy-duty front bumper with recovery hooks can help you get out of tough spots in the AT4. Front and rear electronic locking differentials send torque where it’s needed most on slippery, uneven terrain. These are just some of the bold benefits of the AT4.
The addition of the AT4 truly made the Canyon a chameleon. Its dimensions and efficiency are city/commuter-ready, and the AT4 is ready for life far from the pavement.

The Sierra 1500
Now we step up to the full-size trucks, starting with the light-duty Sierra 1500. It’s a terrific option for professionals like contractors and farmers, delivering solid towing and payload figures, while remaining easy to drive. It also has a range of payload options, covering both efficient and power-focused ones.
Many drivers love how customizable the Sierra 1500 is. With several bed sizes and cab options, as well as tons of trims and special packages, it’s a truck you can personalize to fit your needs.
We recommend tech-savvy drivers look at 2016 and newer models, since that’s when it received Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatability. Today, most drivers are accustomed to being able to connect their smartphones to the infotainment screen. Living without this luxury might be something modern drivers aren’t willing to do.
For drivers who frequently put their beds to use, the 2019 and newer models will be of major interest. In 2019, GMC added the Multi-Pro tailgate to the Sierra, and it revolutionized the way truck drivers utilize their truck bed. The Multi-Pro tailgate allows you to set your tailgate to six different positions, including a work desk, full-width step, several tiers of load stops and more.
By 2022, the Sierra 1500 became an unstoppable force. That’s the year GMC created the Denali Ultimate trim for this pickup. It took the already popular Denali and built on it to make a bolder, more beautiful, and more luxurious big-sibling trim. The Denali Ultimate is packed with treats, like 16-way power front seats with a massaging feature. Imagine unwinding after a long day on a job site in those.
The Denali Ultimate also gets up to 40 inches of driver-focused displays, showing you everything from your navigation to your playlist to your driver assist features. A total of 14 available camera views let you thoroughly monitor your surroundings. Stunning style details like leather seating and contrast stitching add to the allure of this high-end trim.
The Sierra 2500 HD and 3500 HD
Need a commercial-grade truck ready for serious work? Consider the heavy-duty Sierras. The 2500 HD is going to just about double the towing figures of the 1500, and the 3500 HD is going to nearly double the towing figures of the 2500 HD. You can expect massive V8 and diesel engines beneath the hoods of these trucks. They are undeniable workhorses, ready for agricultural sites, construction jobs, and industrial-grade tasks.
Throughout the history of these two trucks, GMC has often made sure to give them both major upgrades at the same time. One such upgrade was the Allison 10-speed automatic transmission, first available in 2020. This 10-speed transmission, an upgrade over the previous six-speed transmission, comes in handy when taking advantage of the HD truck’s massive towing capabilities.
By 2024, we saw major technological improvements to the HDs. We got a 13.4-inch touchscreen, which rivals the size of a laptop. We also received the optional 15-inch color head-up display, putting pertinent stats right in your line of sight. Plus, wireless smartphone connectivity became standard on all but the base trim.

The Hummer EV Pickup
While the Hummer EV doesn’t quite fit in with the more conventional trucks, it certainly deserves mention. This military-esque, electric truck always turns heads and offers unique perks.
Its ability to “crabwalk,” i.e., take advantage of four-wheel steering to move diagonally, makes the Hummer EV pickup surprisingly agile for its bulky body. Its Watts to Freedom mode unlocks incredible power for breathtaking acceleration.
Naturally, the fact that it’s electric is a major perk of the Hummer EV pickup. You can enjoy the power and capabilities of a truck without dealing with high fuel costs and frequent stops at the gas station.
